Great pains are always taken to ensure that everything fits perfectly, including doors and drawers. Our drawers are made with dovetailed joints and solid wood sides, to ensure that they open and close smoothly, using traditional guiders and kickers to run them home - rather than metal runners. Our furniture is hand coloured and hand finished to create the variations in shade that enable it to sit comfortably alongside original antiques. More than a dozen different processes are involved in the finishing of each piece, including a special lacquer which helps give 'body' to the piece. Waxing and burnishing are also an integral part of the finishing, which helps generate the distinctive rich patina that is the hallmark of our furniture.

Our furniture incorporates features such as attractive cornice mouldings and dentils, with doors barred and glazed using traditional methods. Our craftsman employ traditional veneering skills to faithfully reproduce the artistry of original pieces. They skillfully recreate distinctive feature curls and patterns, together with contrasting edge and cross banding, to enhance the beauty and character of our furniture. Oak, more than any other timber, reflects the rich heritage of Britain's history. The choice of materials is important and, wherever practical, we use solid oak, sometimes combined with ash.

Following manufacture, each piece is then skillfully hand coloured and hand waxed, including artificial 'distressing' where required. This finishing, which can incorporate more than a dozen different processes, faithfully recreates the quality, richness and character of original pieces going back hundreds of years.
